Henry Martin: What is inspiration? How do you find it?
Gail Seres-Woolfson: I live and work in the heart of London – a flâneuse in the city. I’m attracted to, and at the same time overwhelmed by, urban experience. I find daily joy, rhythm and freedom in the architecture and spaces around me and also a darkness and uncertainty embedded within it. My paintings evoke a familiar and yet re-imagined setting, their layered surface revealing, concealing and reconstructing the city, offering an open-endedness which echoes the ever-evolving metropolis around me.
