Jesse Hodgson:
Last year I was commissioned to do a small series of watercolours for the Crillon, Paris and this jaguar (above) is one of many development pieces for the collection. I was drawn to big cats because of their elegance, beauty and strength; perfect for such a grand and regal location.
My inspiration primarily comes from animals and wildlife. As an author/ illustrator I usually get ideas for books when I’m outside and immersed in nature. Whilst for my children’s picture book illustrations I normally draw in colouring pencil, I love the freedom and fluidity of working with watercolour and a brush.
