Alys Tomlinson: I have chosen this image, taken at Mount Grabarka pilgrimage site in Poland, to represent a woman who has not just strong faith, but a strong and powerful presence.
Inspiration drives me to make work. I find inspiration in the smallest things – a line from a book, music from a film soundtrack, a quick conversation with a stranger, light creating shadows in the morning sun, discoveries and adventures.
If I could meet one artist it would probably be Diane Arbus – a photographer who broke all the rules (but didn’t care) and created work that was strong and tender.
